Good Neighbours Scheme
As part of our ongoing project, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Porlock Vale Good Neighbour Scheme. This initiative recognises the strong tradition of neighbourly care within Porlock Vale, while also acknowledging that there are individuals who, despite valuing their privacy, may find themselves in need of occasional or temporary support.
The Good Neighbour Scheme offers two distinct forms. The first form is designed for volunteers who are willing to offer their time and support in various ways. The second is intended for those who need assistance or know of someone who could benefit from some help. This dual approach ensures that both those seeking help and those wishing to provide it can easily connect and participate in this community effort.
Volunteers
Please can you help?
Could you spare a few hours, each week, month or on a one-off basis? We have vulnerable people within our community of Porlock Vale who might be facing an isolating and scary time.
Your help could be a lifeline for some who do not have immediate family or friends to help them.
Please tick all boxes where you could offer to help.
I need help
Do you need some temporary help at home?
Porlock Vale community thrives on our neighbourly and community spirit, and we know from initiating, setting up and running the Covid Helpline in 2020, that Porlock Vale steps up to look after its own. In December 2024, Storm Darragh highlighted how much we rely on electricity and modern technology for information and communication and the loss of both proved challenging for us all.
In recent years, new residents have moved into the Vale and due to our demographics and people needing temporary help, Porlock Information Centre, run by Porlock Vale CIC, is launching a Good Neighbour Scheme. This scheme aims to assist members of the community who have no family or friends available and who are temporarily need some emergency support.
